Four hundred and thirty (430) pilgrims have set off from Kabale diocese for this year’s Martyr’s Day celebrations at the Catholic Shrine Namugongo on 3rd next month.

Rev. Fr. David Byaruhanga, the Lay Apostolate Movement Coordinator in Kabale Diocese flagged off the Pilgrims from Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale Municipality last evening.

The pilgrims are to take 430 kilometers journey to Namugongo with the oldest among them is Mzee Philip Bazi-menyera 79, from Bunagana Parish in Kisoro District.

The other pilgrims are drawn from Kinanira Parish, Soko, Rubu-guri, Ruhengeri in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Hundreds of excited family members, relatives and friends thronged Rushoroza Cathedral to flag off their loved as they set off for Namungongo.

Pilgrims from Kabale always trek to Namugongo since 2009 when the 65 Pioneer Pilgrims successfully made it on foot.

Peter Kabagambe, the leader of the pilgrims said they are taking this pilgrimage in prayer for peace, Faith, Love and development in Uganda.
