Catholic Church has advised politicians to always analyze the content and live to the truth from the statements made by religious leaders instead of maligning them.

During the hype of lifting the Age limit last year, the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda and several government officials warned religious leaders against crossing their lines by discussing on the bill.

This was after several religious leaders including, Bishop Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, Bishop Reuben Kisembo Amooti of the Anglican diocese of Rwenzori and the Parish Priest of Kitanga Catholic Church in Kabale diocese Rev. Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda made statements citing the risks of amending of article 102b.

In an interview, the Justice and Peace Executive Secretary at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat  Dr. Emmanuel Kiiza Aliba<right> says politicians are always driven by self interests that always attract public attention and advice from the religious leaders

He calls on politicians to make informed decisions while deciding on any national matter putting in respect of the rights of the electorate.
