The Charismatic priest Fr. Anthony Musaala together with Fr. Dr. Deogratius Ssonk has been readmitted into the Catholic Church after five years of their departure.
The two priests were readmitted after a liturgical celebration at Rubaga Cathedral whose main celebrant was the Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.
Fr. Musaala and Fr. Ssonko had served in priesthood for over 25 years before them together with Fr. Jacinto Kibuuka rebelled against the canon laws of the Roman Catholic Church and joining Mamure prayer center and Evangelical Orthodox Church in 2013 and 2016 respectively.
During the celebration attended by a legion of priests, Musaala who wore no mass vestments save for a Roman collar and a cassock was given an opportunity to make a public confession prerequisite to readmission that was later granted to him under strict conditions by His Grace Dr. Lwanga.
They are not to perform ecclesiastical duties mandated to a priest until after proper examination of their remorsefulness, counsel and guidance.
Dr. Lwanga expressed joy for their return urging fellow priests not to condemn but assist them to counsel their conscience and return to their priestly duties.
He further prayed for the errant priests to realize their mistakes and return to the Catholic Church and apologize for misleading God’s flock.
Some of the religious and lay faithful like the former head of laity Anthony Nakirya Mattega and Sr. Mary Nantongo were all happy for the comeback of the two priests.
