The State Minister of Internal Affairs ObiaKaniahas hailed the Catholic Church for her efforts to build a strong media not only in structures but also in the human resource through such annual discourses.

Kania cited the irresponsible media like the one in Rwanda that caused a genocide in 1994 that it should not be given chance in Uganda.

He says although the media has had serious accusations against the police in its operations to the existent of listing it as number one in torturing the media by the Human Rights Association for Journalists, they have been trying to fix the mess but the media also needs to examine its self because many journalists are short of professional ethics.

He says with the revolution in the media all journalists ought to be more careful and communicate peace and unity because society trusts their word.

Kania appealed to the Catholic Church to use its 9 radios and the press to educate communities on how to fight poverty and environmental degradation which are serious detrimental challenges to the country’s development.

He pledged to support the catholic media including the announced National Catholic Television yet to start operations.

Kania was addressing Catholic Communicators at Nebbi Cathedral at the end of the long week seminar where he also handed over certificates of appreciation and also planted five memorial trees along with other invented guests.
