The Institute of the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi in Nkokonjeru received 19 newly professed sisters, 8 made perpetual vows and 10 celebrated their silver and 8 golden jubilees in religious service.
Two Sisters; Fabian Aleto from Amucu parish in Soroti diocese and Andrea Kaggwa of Naggalama parish Lugazi diocese celebrated Diamond Jubilees while only one Sister Mary Denis Namubiru from Nkokonjeru Parish in Lugazi diocese celebrated platinum Jubilee (75yrs) of service in the institute founded by now the servant of God the late Sr. Mother Mary Kevin in 1923.
At the ceremony officiated by the Bishop of Lugazi Diocese Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza, the newly professed and the jubilarians were challenged to lift up the banner higher for the world to see their dedication to God.
The Mother General Sr. Cecilia Ngeri hailed the bishops, priests and friends of Mother Kevin for the support extended to them but to her fellow sisters, especially the newly professed she challenged them against temptations that might compromise their calling.
She religious sisters are not immune to challenges that come along with technology, individualism and corruption among other vices that are affecting society general challenging them to be on watch and sober while taking decisions.
One of the golden Jubilarian Sr. Margaret Kubanze Namubiru who is the vice postulator for the cause of beatification of the servant of God Mother Mary Kevin together with Fr. Edward Sekabanja who represents Bishop Christopher Kakooza, enumerated the needs for the cause especially a miracle of a healed disease that failed medical treatment and at least UGX 600 millions to facilitate the work.
The function was attended by the Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi diocese Rt. Rev. Matthias Ssekamanya, Vicar generals Dr. Richard Kayondo and Charles Kasibante of Lugazi and Kampala respectively. The sisters of the day extended a luncheon to their guests at different centers within the mother house compound in Nkokonjeru.
