A total of 1,257 international pilgrims have confirmed to the Uganda Catholic Secretariat (UCS) their attendance in this year’s Uganda martyrs’ celebrations at the Catholic Shrine Namugongo June 3rd 2018.
This has been revealed by the National Executive Secretary for the Social Communication Commission (SCC), Uganda Episcopal Conference Fr Philip Odii <on the left>at the Uganda media center in Kampala.
He disclosed that a total of 330 pilgrims are from Tanzania, 300 from Kenya, 110 from Malawi, 63 from South Africa, 7 from Japan and 40 from Nigeria, among others have already confirmed their attendance.
He encouraged pilgrims to go for medical checkup to know their health status before they start up their journey to Namugongo and called on the public to offer any services possible while on their way.
Meanwhile the State Minister Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquity Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi, stated that government is working hard to make the stay of the pilgrims hospitable.
