His Eminence Emanuel Cardinal Wamala has challenged Ugandans never to be derailed by hard situations to forget God but rather grow stronger in faith and in the Lord, the provider of everything.

 

In his message at the awarding ceremony of the best students in the “Try Prayer Contest” organized by the Holy Cross Family Ministries at their offices in Nsambya, Cardinal Wamala said a prayer brings people together and give a new sense of direction and understanding right from God.

He hailed the Holy Cross Family Ministries East Africa district that involves Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania for helping students to learn praying especially the holy rosary that healed the founder of holy cross congregation Fr. Patrick Peyton who had almost failed to be ordained a priest due to Tuberculosis illness in the 20th Century.

The Director of Holy Cross Family Ministries East Africa, Fr. Lenard Olobo said they are striving to see that families and communities put their discernment in prayer instead of witchcraft or other gods

This year’s Try Prayer Competition attracted 17 secondary schools with 240 participants from Kampala, Jinja and Fort portal Catholic dioceses under the theme; A woman clothed with the sun Rev. 12:1,

It involved activities like, Music Dance and Drama that was won by St. Balikudembe SSS Mitalamaria, Essay writing won by St. Joseph’s SSS Naggalama, Poetry by Kisubi minor seminary and Art by Mugwanya.

Summit College Kyengera came up the best overall winner of the competition, the achievers received trophies, certificates and each student and patron got 100,000/= and 50,000/= respectively.
