The bodies of 12 Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) soldiers killed in a terrorist Al-Shabaab ambush last Sunday in Somalia have arrived in the country through Entebbe International Airport today afternoon at around 2:40pm.

They were received by Deputy Chief of Defence Force (CDF) Gen. Wilson Mbadi escorted by UPDF Land Forces Commander Maj. Gen. Peter Erweru.

The bodies had been at Mogadishu Level II Hospital after being retrieved from the attack scene on Sunday.

The Regional Shabelle administrators had earlier claimed that the number of those killed in the ambush was higher.

The terrorist group claimed to have killed 39 AMISOM troops which information cannot be verified.

The army spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire, has said lack of armored vehicles is exposing Ugandan troops to the enemy attacks especially ambushes in Somalia challenging UN to provide more infantry fighting vehicles to protect troops, but also the UN partners should come in to airlift logistics to the bases.
