Over 70 members from 6 youth groups in Makindye Parish Makindye division have been disqualified from the youth livelihood programme for failure to meet the necessary requirements to benefit from the youth fund that was started to fight poverty and unemployment.

In a youth livelihood programme selection committee meeting attended by Peace Mukayisire, a youth officer from Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), said the 6 were part of the 10 groups which registered, to access youth funds to start up income generating projects.

The four qualified groups with a member capacity of 10 to 15 aged between 18 to 30 years will go for further training of four months to get more techniques and advise in various businesses to help them utilize the borrowed funds effectively. Each group is allowed to get at least 12.5 million shillings

The disqualified youths lost tempers but were calmed down by Kibuye I Parish councilor Milly Nakalyango, advising them to try next year.
