Ministry of Education and Sports has released the examination results for the Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Examinations Board (UNMEB) showing about 800 candidates failed the 2017 exams.

A total of 6,767 candidates sat from 67 centers in November last year.

796 failed the examinations and 13 were unable to sit for the examination despite registering.

Realeasing the results at the Office of the President in Kampala, the UNMEB Executive Secretary Helen Kataratambi, says there is tremendous increment in the students sitting for the examination for the past three years to a tune of 1000 candidates.

She also noted that a total of 4,837 girls and 1,930 boys sat the exams last year thus revealing that the 2017 performance has been better than the 2016 which she attributed to good cooperation.

Receiving the examination results, the State Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo cautioned the Universities and tertiary institutions which offer midwifery and Nurses courses in diploma and certificate without the authorization from UNMEB to stop it immediately.
