Today February 23 is a special day announced by Pope Francis to pray and fast for peace over the ongoing conflicts in the world, particularly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan.

Catholics and non-Christians are all encouraged to join prayers “in the ways they deem most appropriate, to see an end to the tragic continuation of conflicts in different parts of the world.

Pope Francis canceled the planned ecumenical trip to DRC Cong and South Sudan last year alongside Anglican Primate Archbishop Joseph Welby aimed at promoting peace in the conflict-ridden country due to safety concerns.

Bothe South Sudan and DRC Congo have experienced deaths and massive displacement due to civil and tribal conflicts.

The Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has reminded Christians and all Ugandans about the Papal call adding that prayers should be accompanied with collection of charity for them.
