The Executive Director for Anti Corruption Coalition Uganda (ACCU) Cissy Kagaba has down played the directive to the ministry of finance, to procure armored vehicles for Members of Parliament.

Kagaba told the press in Ntinda that it’s absurd for government to take such a decision, ignoring the financial implication to have all the 456 MPs, have an escort pickup, each estimated at 500 million shillings that calls for a hooping Shs228 billion shillings to affect the plan.

Kagaba added that they believe that procuring armored vehicles and assigning sharp shooters to MPs is discriminatory and will not solve the security challenges in the country, calling on the relevant authorities to revise the president’s mind.

She also advised MPs to reject the proposal and instead channel the money to improving on social services.
