Police has been on high alert to quell any anti presidential age limit demonstration in the entire country with more visibility within Kampala and around parliament.

Apart from the scuffle at the parliamentary entrance where Police tried to stop both the NRM and the Opposition MPs who are not in favour of lifting the presidential age limit, the Former FDC party President Dr. Kizza Besigye was arrested within the city center at Mini price along Ben Kiwanuka Street after beating security right from his home at Kasangati in Wakiso district.

He was towed in his vehicle along with other 10 youths to CPS Kampala. Democratic Party President and his Vice Norbert Mao and Fred Mukasa Mbidde did not also survive police, Mao was arrested from the parliamentary entrance while Mbidde from his home in Makindye.

Many other youths were arrested from various parts of the country as they tried to demonstrate with placards demanding parliament against accepting the move of the motion by the Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi against amending article 102b to give chance to president Museveni to contest in the next elections in 2021 when he is beyond 75 years of age.

The morning students of Kabala University who are in line with the K’Ogikwatako campaign also woke up to a planned peaceful match around Kabale town but where stopped by police

Students led by one Samuel Mugabe, were planning to hold a peaceful march from the Kikungiri hill based campus onto the streets of Kabale town.

Police led by ASP Johson Mpamba fired teargas and live bullets to disperse the marching students.

The Kabale district police commander Dickens Bindeba said the demonstrators had not obtained permission from the police for the march.
