The Minister for Finance, Matia Kasaija has lashed at the Opposition Members of Parliament for holding rallies instead of meetings meant for consulting the public about the lifting of presidential age limit.

Kasaija says joint rallies are contrary to what is guided by parliament and also contravenes with the public order management act that limits assemblies and crusades in play grounds, markets and along roads.

This week, two people were injured and rushed to hospital after police used teargas and live bullets to disperse a consultative rally on age limit in Kasubi, Rubaga Division, in Kampala.

Meanwhile, Police blocked the Butambala county Member of parliament Muwanga Kivumbi,  and his counterpart of Makindye East, Ibrahim Kasozi from accessing Natete Lorry Park for a planned consultative meeting on the presidential age limit amendments that was organised by the Rubaga South MP, Kato Lutwama.

Police sealed off all the entrances to the park and ordered them to leave. Muwanga Kivumbi was seen driving off to Kyengera while Kasozi returned to the city center.

This is in line with the directive from the Director of Operations in the Uganda Police Force AIGP Asuman Mugyenyi who directed all Regional Police Commanders, District Police Commander and Officers in Charge of Police Station to block joint consultative meetings by opposition legislators

Despite blocking the two legislators, Police allowed Hon. Kato Lutwama to hold his consultations promising voters that his fellow MPs will get another opportunity to meet them.
