The Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) has condemned the discriminatory arrests imposed on anti-age limit amendment politicians but support its proponents.

UHRC Chairperson Meddie Ssozi Kaggwa says that heavy deployment of security officers specifically targeting the opposition is unfair when yet those of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party hold the same gatherings without any interference.

Yesterday, Jobless Brotherhood activists and Makindye East Member of Parliament Allan Ssewanyana were arrested by security operatives when they were found distributing fliers protesting against the proposed lifting of the presidential age limit.

However, Christopher Mbaziira from the Law School in Makerere University also emphasizes that if the law is to be followed by security officers in their operations, both anti and pro presidential age limit activists should be handled equally.

Meanwhile, different groups of City traders led by the former Kampala Lord Mayoral contestant Daniel Kazibwe musically known as Ragga Dee jointly supported the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Members of parliament to propose a motion of scrapping off article 102b of the constitution to allow President Museveni continue leading Uganda .
