The Bishop of Namirembe diocese Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira has described the events that surrounded the passing of the age limit bill as bad news.

While delivering the Christmas sermon at Namirembe cathedral bishop Luwalira noted that parliament was invaded, members of parliament manhandled adding that the force used to pass the controversial age limit bill should be employed in issues of national importance such as the fight against corruption, land grabbing, and salary for doctors among others.

Luwalira also condemned the invasion of both Anglican and catholic chapels in the parliamentary building by the security agents saying it should not happen again.

He also noted that the campaigns of opposition members of parliament , the tojikwatako now kojikutteko has left many Ugandans in confusion and fear thus appealing to Ugandans to have hope since Jesus Christ has been born to take away their fear.

Meanwhile the Bishop Ruwenzori Diocese, Reuben Kisembo has asked President, Yoweri Museveni not to sign the Constitution (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2017 that was passed last week by Parliament.

The bill proposes the scrapping of the presidential age limit and extension of the tenure of members of parliament

The Bill will now be sent to the President for agreement.

Delivering his Christmas message to Christians at St John’s Cathedral this morning, Bishop Kisembo asked Museveni not to sign the bill to allow Ugandans witness peaceful transfer of power.

Bishop Kisembo also warned the advisers of the president, against misleading him to seek re-election in the next general elections.

Kisembo also commended the MPs who voted against the bill and criticised those who voted in favor, saying they betrayed the people of Uganda.
