Opposition Members of Parliament have vowed not to adhere to the police directive issued by the Director of Operations AIGP Asuman Mugyenyi stopping them from holding joint consultative meetings about the constitutional amendment of article 102b.

In a letter dated 16th this month and copied to all DPCs, OCs and RPCs, Mugyenyi banned opposition MPs from carrying out consultations in constituencies of not their origin.

The Leader of Opposition Winfrey Kizza says police will not deter them from supporting each other in consulting on article 102b of the constitution adding that police has no authority to determine MPs political mandate on where and how to consult their electorates.

She further warned President Museveni for using security forces to brutalize Ugandans over their rightful cause.

Meanwhile, police has also stopped Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi from performing at live music concerts until investigations into his conduct at recent events are completed.

The directive has been issued by Kampala Metropolitan Police commander Fred Mwesigwa following a request by Balunywa Promotions Ltd, an events company that wanted police security ahead of Bobi Wine’s planned show at Collin Hotel in Mukono.

Mwesigwa turned down the request in relations to the previous show at One Love Beach Busabala, where Bobi Wine is said to have uttered words that incited the public and he is now under investigations.
