A Senior Land Registration Officer at Ministry of Land’s Wakiso Lands Zonal office Rowla Ataro Bogere has been arrested on the orders of Justice Catherine Bamugemereire over obstructing justice and telling lies while appearing before her commission of inquiry into land matters.
Ataro was appearing for the second time before the commission to explain her role in the issuance of a set of land titles to individuals in Wetland located at Kijabijo.
Records obtained by the Commission showed that Title 170 plot 644 were registered by Ataro and her Senior Land Management Officer, Satya Mwangushya without following laid procedure.
The two according to the Commission Lead Counsel, Ebert Byenkya avoided the District Land Officer and the District Land Board by approving the award of certificate of titles in Wetlands.
Ataro had since Thursday been avoiding some of the questions put to her by the Commission. She at one moment admitted that they granted land titles in wetlands in error but could not admit that she and her boss had not followed right procedure when processing applications leading to grant of certificate titles in wetlands.
Ataro first accepted that there were errors in the issuance of the land titles in wetlands but along the way again denied knowledge of issuing a number of titles coupled with the way she was addressing the commission forced Justice Bamugemereire to order for her arrest and whisked to Wandegeya Police Station where the Commission’s investigators are expected to question her further.
