Justice Catherine Bamugemereire’s Land Commission of Inquiry has directed police to arrest a businessman Eria Mubiru and an army officer Sergeant William Bonge for failure to appear before the commission today over fraudulently owning of land titles within Kajjansi Central Forest Reserve.

According to the Commission, both witnesses were summoned and had been expected to appear today afternoon to provide information on how they acquired the land titles within the government reserved land but failed to show up and even sending their apologies.

This prompted Bamugemereire to issue a warrant of arrests to both Mubiru and Bonge once they fail to show up tomorrow morning.

Before that, the former Inspector General of Police John Kisembo explained to the commission some unscrupulous officials of the National Forestry Authority (NFA) colluded with businessmen and Wakiso district Land Board officials to grab and change title ownership of his 20 acres of land he had leased from government to plant trees.

However, he recommended that issuance of land titles on a government land should be consented by parliament and all public institutions be re-organized so that they could respond positively to people’ complaints.
