The head of Land Inquiry Commission justice Catherine Bamugemereire has strongly warned to issue a warrant of arrest against the Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development Betty Amongi should she decline to appear before the commissioners tomorrow.

This comes after the Minister disregarded criminal summons that had been issued for her to appear today in line to her alleged involvement into the fraudulent Uganda Land Fund project dealings that cost government billions of money, part of which went to other senior civil servants and city lawyers .

The Commission’s Lawyer John Bosco Suuza first informed the judge that the Minister wouldn’t show up, because she needed to first seek Cabinet approval, which he called frivolous citing the Law.

It was from this point that Justice Bamugemereire gave Amongi up to tomorrow to show up or else the commission issue a warrant of arrest upon her body which shall be copied to all relevant government agencies.

Bamugemereire also accused Amongi of impunity, emphasizing that her Commission is statutory with equivalent powers of the High Court.

The Lands Minister is also accused by one Torshak Manubhai, a Ugandan of Indian origin of attempted grabbing of their property on plot 29-Accacia Avenue-Kololo Hill in Kampala through her company Amobet Investment as well as using her ministerial powers.

This is the fourth times when Amongi declines to appear before the Commission since April 3rd 2018.
