The Newly elected Member of Parliament for Bugiri Municipality Asuman Basalirwa and Peter Abraham Lokii of Kotido municipality have this afternoon taken oath before the Speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga.

Basalirwa was flanked by fellow opposition MPs led by the Leader of Opposition Betty Aol Ochan , Makindye Sabagabo MP Sempala Kigozi, Bukonjo County West MP Atkins Katushabe and  Bukoto County East MP Florence Namanyanja among others.

Kadaga handed them instruments of power that included a copy of the constitution and parliament rules of procedure that are essential while executing parliamentary work.

Last month, Basalirwa won Bugiri Municipality MP seat after defeating both the NRM’s Francis Oketcho and FDC’s Eunice Namatende with a difference of over 600 votes yet Lokii, the former MP for Jie constituency bounced back to parliament after defeating his main rival Jean Mark Aporu, an independent candidate.
