Preparatory meetings for this year’s 3rd June Uganda martyrs day celebrations have started to welcome service providers who will provide the necessities to cater for over 3 million expected pilgrims at the Catholic Shrine Namugongo.

Tororo Archdiocese led by His grace Emmanuel Obbo is the host diocese for this year’s martyrs day under the theme; Lets walk in the light of God.

The Vicar General of Tororo Archdiocese Msgr. Kevin Musisi was been appointed to chair all the meetings on behalf of Tororo Archdiocese alongside the Secretary General Uganda Episcopal Conference Msgr, John Baptist Kauta.

The Chairman Tororo ecclesiastical Province Association of the laity Robert Kamiza says Namugongo needs early preparations to ensure proper planning and organization.

Already the 9 committees approved to help in preparations that include Liturgy, protocol and security, publicity and communication Health, Pilgrims and Catering among others, need not less than 720 million to fulfill their obligations and Kamiza called for well-wishers to support in the best way possible.

Among the strategies set to raise funds specifically in Kampala include; mobilization of MPs on February 14th on Ash Wednesday in a mass that will be led by Archbishop Obbo, and a charity walk on March 4th among others.
