A section of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) member of parliament are seeking to table a proposed motion removing all academic qualifications for all elective positions in the country, from the presidency going down.

The speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga today received the notice to move the motion on the bill, from Kasambya County Member of Parliament Gaffa Mbwatekamwa.

Hon Mbwatekamwa himself is a Masters Degree Holder. He also has a post graduate diploma and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

The request for a private member’s bill is the second to be forwarded to the speaker’s office today and the fourth this week.

Earlier this morning Workers Member of Parliament, Sam Lyomoki notified the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga of a motion to introduce a bill seeking Museveni’s safe exit from the country’s top most office.

The bill is titled “The Museveni Succession, Transition and Immunities Bill 2017”

This week, Igara West MP, Raphael Magezi notified deputy speaker Jacob Oulanyah of his intentions to introduce a private member’s Bill to scrap the presidential age limit. It had been promised to be put on the order paper on Thursday 21st September which was not done, but the house turned chaotic from the opposition side forcing the deputy speaker Oulanyah to suspend the house until Tuesday 26th 2017.
