Catholic Bishops under their umbrella the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) have warned Christians against following the self excommunicated priest Jacinto Kibuuka who claims to have been consecrated a Bishop in the Eastern Orthodox Church.

The chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference, Gulu Archbishop John Baptist Odama says Kibuuka’s claims are wrong, unfounded and never anywhere even in the Orthodox Church.

Kibuuka was ordained Bishop by Tom Kiiza, the Bishop for Antioch church in Uganda and was placed in charge of Central and Eastern Uganda.

Archbishop Odama cited a Bi-annual book Orthodoxia published by the Orthodox Church as the only legal document with all their churches, bishops and priests and Kibuuka is not part of them because his claims to have crossed to the Eastern Antiochian church was not approved by Pope Francis through his local Bishop.

He made this clarification during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of St. Paul’s National major seminary Kinyamasika in Fort Portal, Kabalore district.

The Bishop of Masaka who is also the overseer of all the seminaries in Uganda, Rt. Rev. John Baptist Kaggwa said that besides the achievement among which producing Bishop Francis Kibira of Kasese who was a rector and 557 priests in the last 25 years, the administration, parents, students and Bishops must work harder to keep the name of the seminary.
