Buganda Kingdom has passed a budget of 74.7billion shilling for its financial year 2017/2018.

The motion for passing the budget was tabled by the Buganda Lukiiko member Muhammad Ssebagala and seconded by Twaha Lwanyaga, Kabaka’s representative for Butambala County.

While reading the budget before the Buganda Lukiiko (Parliament), the Kingdom’s Minister for finance, Planning, Investment and Economic Development Robert Waggwa Nsimbirwa says that they are to put more emphasis on finishing the Kasubi tombs, education, Kabaka’s land development and health service especially having a mobile hospital among others.

Nsibirwa adds that they are also planning to collect over 74mshs thus revealing that this budget can only be full filled once all ministries from Buganda work together.

In the same seating, the Buganda Kingdom Premier Charles Peter Mayiga asked the central government to institute a special lands court to deal with land conflicts in the country.

He added that as a Kingdom, they don’t oppose the constitutional land amendment bill tabled in parliament to further amend the 1998 Land Act (as amended); in line with government projects but consultations and quick court process on compensations must be taken.
