Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) has declared a one week long for free testing of cancer among people leaving with albinism in the country.

The Head of Cancer Research and Screening at the UCI Dr. Noleb Mugisha, says that this is done as a measure of accepting and embracing skin cancer which mostly affect Albinos.

This comes at a time when Uganda has today joined the rest of the world to mark the International Albinism Awareness Day.

The Uganda Albino Association Executive Director Jude Ssebyayi embraces UCI’s initiative and called on the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) to provide more time for student living with albinism compared to normal students during final exams.
Over 85000 albinos are estimated to be in Uganda

The main national celebrations have been held at Mbale and Jinja where the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga was the chief guest.
