The Catholic Bishops of Uganda have expressed concern over the increasing kidnaps, organized crime and killings in the country challenging the government and all security agencies to scale up efforts to protect life and property of Ugandans.

In a joint statement signed by the Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference His Grace John Baptist Odama the Archbishop of Gulu, the Bishops demanded the perpetrators to stop such criminality value life and respect human dignity.

They also urged every Ugandan to become security conscious and concerned to one another.

This follows gruesome murders with the latest as of June 8, 2018 was the killing of Arua Municipality Ret. Col. Ibrahim Abiriga while heading to his home in Kawanda along with his brother Saidi Butele Congo  who also doubled as his body guard.

On the National sexuality flame work – a government policy intended to introduce sex education in schools the Bishops said as a Catholic Church they are in full support of idea for the intergral and health development of the children but insist it must uphold the moral and Christian values which are still missing.

They are ready to present their understanding through the Joint Christian Council after consulting with experts.

Already the Bishops have left for the Ad Limina Aposto-lorum from June 12 to 23, 2018 in which they are to meet with Pope Francis and pay homage to the tomb of Apostles Peter and Paul in Rome.
