The High Court Judge Wilson Kwesiga has granted bail to a businessman Matthew Kanyamunyu, who has spent 10 months on remand over the killing of one Kenneth Akena at Lugogo Forest Mall.

Through his lawyer Evans Ochieng, Kanyamunyu, was released on a cash bond of Shs10 million while his sureties were asked to deposit a non- cash bond of Shs10 million. He was also asked to deposit his passport with court and is supposed to report to the same court once a month. He is not supposed to travel abroad without court clearance.

Kanyamunyu secured his partial freedom after the fourth attempt and he is accused of murdering a child rights activist, Kenneth Akena last November at Lugogo, a Kampala suburb together with his girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari and elder brother, Joseph Kanyamunyu who were already granted bail.

Besides the LC1 letter Kanyamunyu tendered in court letters from his landlord and fellow tenants at Royal Palms in Butabika in an effort to prove that he is a good citizen who would pose no danger to society while on bail that had been faulted by the State Attorney Immaculate Angutoko for absence of tenancy receipts since 2014.

He presented five sureties; his cousin Emmy Karuhanga, his uncle Julius Kanyamunyu, his Aunt Sebunya Amerian, another Aunt Stella Karuhanga and his guardian Gabi Gasatula.
