The Commercial Court in Kampala has issued summons against the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party to respond to claims that it refused to pay a Shs.580 million debt for the presidential campaign posters and flyers it used  in last year’s general elections.

Elite Graphics Printers Ltd contends it was contracted in November 2015 to print over 4 million posters and flyers to be used for presidential campaigns at a cost of 1.3 billion shillings.

The printers claim that during the month of February 2016, NRM paid them 800 million shillings leaving a balance of 580 million shillings which it has refused to pay despite repeated reminders.

The company adds that their posters helped President Yoweri Museveni achieve victory but for almost year now they are not being paid.

The ruling party has been given only 15 days to file its defense, failure of which the matter will be heard ex-parte.
