The Civil Society Coalition in Defense of Constitutionalism and Rule of law is concerned by what they term as the illegal transfer of Age limit court proceedings from Kampala to Mbale.

Early last week, the Judiciary through the Deputy Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo in a surprise move announced that the five constitutional petitions on the age limit should be consolidated into one and will be heard from Mbale starting April 4 in a marathon style.

Reading the 22 CSO Member joint statements before the media today in Kampala, the City Lawyer Andrew Karamaji says that Justice Owiny- Dollo would have consulted all stakeholders before they transfer the court from the scene of crime since the act violates article 135 and137of the constitution

However, the Executive Director Center for Constitutional Governance, Sarah Birete and the Development Network of Indigenous Voluntary Associations (DENIVA) Executive Director Catherine Kandahika both question the extravagancy of the judiciary in the case putting the estimated cost in expenditure at 125 million shillings per week yet the sector cries of underfunding.
