Civil Society Organizations advocating for the rights of women in Uganda, in partnership with Chapter Four Uganda want the Deputy Solicitor General Christopher Gashirabake to step down on allegations of sexually harassment.

Speaking to the press in Kampala, the Program Associate in Akina Maama Wa Africa Angella Asiimwe alleges that one Samantha Mwesigye who came out to break the silence over sexual harassment was courageous and acted such acts against women at their workplace.

She is however dissatisfied with the way Samantha’s case has been handled hence appealing to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs to establish a committee to investigate the complaints of sexual harassment at workplace especially in the case of Samantha.

Samantha Mwesigye, alleges that in 2009 she was sexually harassed by Gashirabake during her internship in the ministry of justice and constitutional affairs.

She claims to have reported the case to the concerned departments but was not helped.
