The Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese Rt. Rev. Santos Lino Wanok has called for dedicated service by the religious leaders if Uganda is to grow in faith.

In the homily to mark 100 years since the two Uganda’s beatified catechists of the 20th Century Daudi Okello and Gildo Irwa were killed because of faith and evangelization to the people of Paimol, Kalongo at Wipolo in Acholi sub region in 1918, Bishop Wanok said a faithful community will always be peaceful which is a strong pillar to development.

Bishop Wanok told a mammoth congregation of Christians and Catechists who took the pilgrimage for the centaury since Daudi Okello and Gildo Irwa were killed yesterday October 20th that the commitment to fight witchcraft, , slavery, political persecution and oppression of the vulnerable groups based on the word of God is still needed in Uganda and in the whole world.

A delegation comprises of about 54 catechists from Kampala Archdiocese led by their Director Fr. Dr. Joseph Sserugga and Nsambya Parish Catechists’ Chaplain Fr. Charles Ntege Lubwama were part a thousand catechists who took pilgrimage.

The Mass was led by the Archbishop of Gulu His Grace John Baptist Odama and co-celebrated with Rt. Rev. Bishops; Joseph Franzelli of Lira, Damiano Giulio Guzzetti of Moroto and Giuseppe Franzelli, of Kotido.

The celebration has been under the theme; “Courageous and witness washed in the blood of the lamb Revelation; 7:14”
