The Parliamentary Committee on Rules, Discipline and Privileges has today started investigating the conduct of the 25 Members of Parliament who had been suspended from three sittings of parliament last week.

Chaired by Kalaki County MP Clement Ongalo Obote, the committee has started with an interim meeting reflecting on terms and references of investigation as provided by speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

Ongalo says the committee is to entirely rely more on the CCTV camera footage captured amongst other materials that will be provided to them for assessment as the legislators tussled it out with strangers in the chambers said to have been Special Force Command (SFC) soldiers who guards the President and the extent of the damage caused to the chamber.

However, Ongalo notes that his committee is not going to investigate the conduct of Minister of State for Water Ronald Kibuule who is said to have entered chambers with a pistol contrary to the law, since he was suspension for three sittings and his name has not been forwarded to them for investigations.

Agago North County MP Prof. Moris Ogenga Latigo a member of the committee says they will not have any bias during their investigations.

Meanwhile, The Minister for Kampala Beti Olive Namisango Kamya who has been consistently accused of aiding to sneak Kibuule’s gun out of the parliamentary chamber challenges parliament to investigate the allegations including one of the local dailies (the New Vision) which published the rumor.
