Opposition Democratic Party (DP) has quit the Inter Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) over lack of openness to the democratization spirit in Uganda.

The party spokesperson in the office of the president Fred Mwesigwa revealed this in a press briefing at City House in Kampala saying the agreed areas of urgency like allowing electoral reforms, never to amend the constitution in favour of individuals like the lifting of the presidential age limit that have been violated.

Mwesigwa says that NRM party which holds the chairmanship of IPOD has deliberately failed to convene a retreat to address national concerns leaving them with no option but to drop the union.

IPOD that is facilitated by the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy was set up in 2010 to offer avenues for dialogue and build a working relationship among political parties to improve the democratization process in Uganda.
