The Opposition Democratic Party (DP) Women’s League is set to petition the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga over the spate of kidnaps and murder of women and girls in the country.
????????????????????????????????????Led by Silvia Kirabira and Christine Nambooze, the DP women announced that they will be marching to Parliament in a peaceful demonstration this Thursday May 24th to hand over their petition to the Speaker.
Kirabira pointed to the disbandment of Crime Preventers which have never been redeployed as one of the root causes of the problem on top of the recent bickering among security agencies.
They are also to seek audience with the Katikiro of Buganda Kingdom Charles Peter Mayiga over the murders since the most victims of murder have occurred within the central region.
The DP Women on the other hand, asked government to consider revamping the economy to do away with the increasing poverty levels and unemployment which they believe are the causes of the criminality in the country.
