The Electoral Commission has set July 25, as polling date for residual elections for Chairpersons of Villages and Parishes across the country.

The Electoral Commission’s Spokesperson Jotham Taremwa, says that the elections will be held in 149 villages and thirteen parishes which didn’t vote during last year’s local council elections.

He adds that in a few areas elections were postponed due to a tie and in other areas the elected chairpersons have since voluntarily resigned.

The Electoral Commission has also released a programme indicating a series of events that will proceed the polling day.

According to the road map, verification of residents and updating of the Village Voters’ Register will take place from July 18 to 19.

Village voters register will be displayed from 22nd to 23rd while the nominations will be held at 23rd.
