The Electoral Commission (EC) together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are set to conduct the 2015/2016 post Election evaluation.

Electoral Commission spokesperson Jotham Taremwa says the evaluation is going to help in enhancing the commission’s performance and efficiency in the conduct of elections to avoid mistakes in the next elections.

Taremwa said the commission is set to conduct internal and external stakeholders’ consultations to evaluate the commission’s performance during elections and document successes, critical challenges, in order to generate informed recommendations for improvement.

He however distanced the planned exercise far different from the one demanded by the former FDC presidential candidate Dr.Kizza Besigye called the National audit.

Meanwhile, the EC Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama announced the programme for the Madi country in Arua District parliamentary by-elections starting on May 8th to June 22nd June when the final elections will take place.

This was in a press conference held at EC headquarters along Jinja road where Byabakama said that the election will cost 38 million shilling and no candidate is expected to use hate language and strict follow the set campaigning regulations that starts at 7;00am-6;00pm.

The By-elections come after court of appeal in Kampala under Judges Remmy Kasule, Richard Buteera and Alfonse Owiny-Dollo nullified the elections of former Member of Parliament for Madi country Hon.Etuuka Isaac Joackino that he was wrongly nominated By EC.

He called upon voters to cross check their names when the voters registers are displayed from the 22nd-31 of this month.
