Although all is set to commission Entebbe Express Highway tomorrow, six landlords who refused to receive compensation have delayed the completion of the project.

Entebbe Express high way is a 53 kilometers road that stretches from Busega, a Kampala suburb to Mpala, in Wakiso district that also branches to Bunga, a suburb in Makindye division in Kampala from Kajjansi.

However, part of the highway from Mpala to Kitooro, Entebbe Municipality remains incomplete after residents rejected the compensation.

Ronald Ssekalo, one of the landlords says his land was under-valued, adding that the proposed compensation is too little to buy alternative land elsewhere.

Ssekalo who values his land at 600 million shillings, however, declined to reveal tell how much UNRA had offered him as compensation.

Some of the uncompensated plots include a fuel station in Abayita Ababiri, and two other plots that contained dilapidated buildings that were later demolished.

The Uganda National Roads Authority-UNRA communication officer Allan Kyobe Ssempebwa, says that such challenges will not affect the completion of the highway.

The road was constructed with a loan of up to $476 million (about 1.8 trillion shillings) from the Exim Bank of China and was constructed by the China Civil Construction Company.
