Forum for Democratic change (FDC) has refuted allegations that their LC V chairpersons mobilized district chairpersons and mayors to disrupt the Minister for Justice Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire’s speech and almost poured water onto him while in their general meeting.

The party Deputy Secretary General Harold Kaijja says Otafiire’s accusations were baseless since the National Resistance Movement (NRM) district chairpersons were also not happy with the Minister, adding that the action served as a precursor to government to decide for the future of this country.

Last week, a section of Mayors, district chairpersons, council speakers and sub county leaders turned violent when they rejected Minister Otafiire to represent and deliver President Museveni’s speech to them in the Uganda Local Government Association (ULGA) workshop at Namboole stadium.

However, FDC Deputy Spokesperson Paul Mwiru condemned police for the continued arrest and detention of opposition members without any charge citing over 50 of their members who were at Nalufenya Police detention center in Jinja who were rounded off for holding unlawful meetings which he feels is wastage of taxpayers’ money.
