The Opposition Forum for Democratic change (FDC) has called off this year’s Christmas celebrations in what they termed as grief over the political move by the NRM to amend the constitution for individual interests.

The party Vice Chairperson for the Eastern  region Proscovia Salamu Musumba told the press at their party headquarters in Najjanankumbi that Uganda is in political crisis over greed and MPs have failed to take their procedural role of protecting the constitution in the interest of President Museveni. She called for unity among party members to continue with the struggle to liberate this country.

Musumba has also condemned police over its continued arrest of the party members under unclear circumstances without trial with a total of 17 FDC members are said to be in police custody since Saturday last week.

Meanwhile the High court civil division has set December 19, 2017 to deliver a ruling on a case filled by a one Ntwatwa Jackson seeking court to block the discussions and debate on the Constitutional amendment of article 102b of the constitution until the constitution is translated into various local languages as required in the same constitution.
