Football governing body, the Federation of Uganda Football Association has retained Moses Basena as the Uganda Cranes footaball team coach.

Addressing the media today at Mengo, the FUFA CEO Edgar Watson revealed that Basena will carry on his duties up to the end of the World Cup qualification campaign.

When approached, Watson refused to comment on the details like salary of Basena’s contract.

Uganda Cranes World Cup campaign will resume with a home game against Ghana Black Stars on October 7, and end with a trip to Congo in November.

It should be noted that FUFA led by Eng. Moses Magogo on July 31 this year appointed Moses Basena on an interim basis for the role of Cranes Coach after the untimely departure of Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic, citing unpaid salary among other issues.

However, it is still unknown whether the Federation’s decision to retain Basena is a sign of appreciation after the Cranes’ win against Egypt and Rwanda in Namboole and Kitende respectively, or they lack funds to bring in a foreign coach.

Peter Onen will be assisted by Hamza Lutalo on the U17 National Team; the U20 National team will be coached by Matia Lule and assisted by James Odoch, with Sam Kawalya as the goalkeeping coach.

Basena and Wasswa Bossa will stir the National U23 team with Sadiq Wasswa as the Goalkeeping Coach
