The Congregations of the Good Samaritan Sisters of Nalukolongo and the Missionaries of Africa converged at Lubaga Cathedral to celebrate the feast of Immaculate Conception that is marked every December 8th.

The congregations also celebrated 40 of existence of the Good Samaritan sisters since they were founded by the late Cardinal Emanuel Kiwanuka Nsubuga and the Missionaries of Africa launched the celebrations for 150 years since they came to Uganda to evangelise the communities.

Brothers Francis of the Missionaries of Africa celebrated 50 years in service and Jubilee Sisters of 25 and 40 years in service renewed their vows before the Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who was the main celebrant and the entire congregation.

The Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga hailed the jubilerians for the commitment in the religious life that is also challenged by the growing demands of the society and the world at large.

Dr. Lwanga in a special way hailed the Missionaries of Africa especially the pioneer missionaries Laudel Mopeel and Bro. Amans for bringing Catholic Faith in Uganda that has popularized the country through the Uganda Martyrs.

At the same celebration there were other Bishops like; His Grace Archbishop of Mbarara Paul Bakyenda who on a personal ground thanked the Missionaries of Africa for supporting his education and have continued to be courteous to African priests.

The Bishop of Masaka diocese Rt. Rev. Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa called for renewed commitment in religious life but prayer for the missionaries, religious and priests not to be swayed away by the challenges of the modern era.

This Bishop of Hoima Rt. Rev. Vincent Kirabo for him, he acknowledged the contribution of all religious to Uganda urging them to remain focused through prayer.

The missionaries of Africa will hold the grand celebrations on December 8th 2019 at the Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine Namugongo and for that case the Good Samaritan Sisters who normally renew their vows on December 8th they will celebrate it on December 7th according to the Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.
