The National Forestry Authority (NFA) Wakiso district Sector Manager John Giribo has named tycoons and government bodies alleged to have illegally obtained titles in the Wakiso central forest reserves.

Appearing before the Land Commission of Inquiry at Wandegeya in Kampala, Giribo says one Haruna Ssemakula obtained 43 different titles in Nove forest reserve and resold some of them to other people.

He says that among those bought the land from Ssemakula include the former Wakiso Resident District Commissioner {RDC} Ian Kyeyune who owns 16.6 hectares, Mustafa Musisi owns 9.8 hectares and Joram Mpaata Oweegage owning plot 32 block 228 at Nove.

Giribo, however explains that some titled have been reclaimed and cancelled yet others are under the process of being cancelled amidst threats to be sued in court by Ssemakula.

He further says that National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO), National Medical Stores (NMS), Marine Training School and Presidential Guard Brigade (PGB) are some the government bodies encroached in the Wakiso district forest reserves include, Nonve, Walumwanyi, Buto, Buvuma, Kalangala, Kyewaga, Nalubaaga, Luwawa, Kasozi , Tumbi and Wakayembe.

However, Giribo says they got frustrations of preserving the forest reserves in Wakiso after Kakiri police lost the files for suspects they had apprehended over illegal surveying and encroachment.
