Government has warned to revoke licenses or slap a fine of 20mshs, to any media house once they continue advertising herbalists that are not authorized by the council.

Addressing the media in Kampala, the State Minister of Health in charge of General Duties Sarah Opendi said that they are just waiting for the signing of Traditional and Complementary Medicines Act, by the President Museven recently passed by Parliament.

The Traditional and Complementary Medicine Bill, 2015 is aimed at regulating and integrating traditional medicine into the national health care system.

Opendi says that the act provides for the establishment of the council that will certify by licensing the traditional hearers with skills, knowledge and trained certificates confirmed by Local council leaders.

She further clarifies that the act doesn’t jeopardizes the operations of the traditional hearers and herbalists as well all regulating spiritualists since government has no competence in dealing with invisible powers.
