The Director of Public Prosecutions-DPP Mike Chibita, has dropped murder charges against the former Kampala Divisional Police Commander Aaron Baguma over the killing of a businesswoman Betty Dinah Katushabe at Pine Car bond.

The State Prosecutor, Alex Ojok handed over the DPP’s decision dated December 21st, 2017 to Justice Flavia Ssenga this morning just after a month where the same office had denied having any case file relating to the murder charges.

Baguma has been battling murder charges along with eight others including Muhammad Ssebuwufu, the proprietor of Pine Car bond, Godfrey Kayiza, Philip Mirambe, Stephen Lwanga, Paul Tasingika, Yoweri Kitayimba, Shaban Otuddu and Damaseni Ssentongo.

Katushaba was tortured to death at the car bond in 2016 for alleged failure to clear the balance of Shillings 9 million for a vehicle she bought from the bond and Baguma is alleged to have found the tortures with the deceased but never protected the suspect who was in the hands of Muhammed Ssebuwufu.

It’s from that act of misconduct that the Director of Public Prosecutions stated that Baguma was criminally liable for neglecting his duty as a Police Officer.
