Government has launched an External Employment Management Information System (EEEMS) to effectively coordinate labor exportation interventions in the country.

Speaking before the media in Kampala, the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MOGLSD) Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana says it is a must for all recruitment companies to use this system to recruit Ugandans.

Last year government lifted the ban on recruitment and deployment of domestic workers to Saudi Arabia and other countries, a year after it banned the system citing inhumane treatment by employers.

However, Bigirimana says that EEMIS is intended to counter human trafficking and streamline smooth operations under the employment sector and will have eight modules include, billing, approval workflow and application management among others.

Meanwhile, the Uganda Association External Recruitment Agency (UAERA) Chairperson Andrew Tumwine Kaberaho embraces the system saying that will control corruption, illegal recruitment among agencies.

He believes that the system will manage to secure registration of users, ease the application submission for license and job orders, manage the multi-agency vetting, inspection and approval workflows, training, monitoring, billing, user reports and auditing logging features.
