Government through Ministry of Health is to construct an official nitrogen plant and calibration that is aimed at cutting the cost of importing experts from abroad to do the job.

The UGX 1.5 Billion plant work starts next month and will supply the needed nitrogen in all the health centers across the country.

The Central Public Health Laboratory Services (CPHLS) Director Dr. Stephen Aisu says this will help to keep the lab samples safe all the time for accuracy in testing and confirmation of results.

He adds that although nitrogen is available in some centers, they have been challenged in collecting and transporting these samples where on average they have been spending more than USD 10 Million annually on experts, trainings and other sample safety measures.

The project is co-funded by donors and construction will take few months according to Aisu.

However, the MOH Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine however cautioned beneficiaries of the donor donation to properly manage and handle the equipments.

The American government has also donated motorcycles to fasten the delivery of the samples.
