Government has revealed that salary enhancement for every public servant will be implemented in the next financial year 2018/2019 and urged all public employees who are planning to or on a strike to call off them.

Addressing the press at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala, the Minister for Public Service Wilson Mululi Mukasa notes that government is right now working on a long team comprehensive salary structure which is expected to be finalized by the end of November this year a period that would require patience from all public servants.

The communiqué from Minister Mukasa comes amidst a resumed strike by prosecutors and threats by doctors to stage a massive national wide industrial action come November 6th.

Mululi however noted that those who intend not to halt their strike are free to resign before the next cause of action.

An October 13 statement issued by Wilson Muruli Mukasa, the minister of public service, indicates that the government has already “developed proposals”, and they “are now being appraised to ascertain their viability and long term sustainability.”

By the “end of November 2017”, the statement in part reads, “government will pronounce itself on the matter.”

In the proposed system, according to the statement, the Ministry of Public Service has been directed to develop a pay policy that eliminates pay disparities and ensures pay enhancement across the Public sector.
