Kibanda North Constituency Member of Parliament in Kiryandongo district Taban Idi Amin Tampo the grandson of the former president Idi Amin Dada has lost his seat after the Court of Appeal ruled in favour of his opponent Otada Sam Amoot.

Justices Stephen Kavuma, Cheborion Barishaki and Paul Kahaibale Mugamba ordered the Electoral Commission to hold fresh elections deferring from Justice Elizabeth Nahamya ruling last September at Masindi high court where she dismissed Otada petition challenging Taban’s election with substantial noncompliance with electoral laws leading to illegal nomination and Election.

The judge had also ruled that there had been insufficient evidence to prove that Taban Amin committed illegal acts and or electoral offences personally and or through his agents or through his agents with his knowledge and consent which the court of appeal has overturned.

Taban polled 24,658 votes against Otada who got 16,118 votes.

Meanwhile the newly elected Member of Parliament for Toroma County Joseph Andrew Kuluo has taken oath Tuesday May 30th  afternoon before the deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah following his election in a by-election held on18th this month.

Kuluo, a National Resistance Movement (NRM) party candidate polled 8,262 beating five other candidates including an independent candidate Robert Imalingat who only polled 4,072 votes.
