The Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura on Monday evening August 21st held a meeting in New Royal Gardens Nansana where he disclosed that 17 women have been murdered in a span of four months since Mary in both Nansana and Entebbe Municipality in a kind of organized way.

11 of those killed are said to have been sex workers, 4 married- divorced couples and one University student.

This follows reports of yet two unidentified women raped and murdered in Nansana and Entebbe just in the same way on August 20th as it has been to other victims.

Kayihura says that 8 suspects have been held in connection to these criminalities. However, he emphasizes that married deceased were killed by their spouses due to domestic disagreements although links to other murders seem to be similar and could be linked to ritual sacrifices according to preliminary investigations.

Kayihura in the meantime, attacked the media for portraying the current situation as being out of hand yet as patriotic citizens they would be working with police to fight the crimes.

On the issue of a curfew, demanded by some residents the police boss said the method has not shown any tangible goods wherever it has been applied but tipped women to get training in fitness and self-defense skills.

Residents however pinned some police officers for working with criminals.
